Ontario wineries experience a temperate climate, a moderating weather effect of the Great Lakes and are grown in glacial soils allowing the wine industry in Ontario to mature for nearly two hundred years. In Ontario a majority of the grape species grown is the Vinifera, coming from the world’s highest quality wine grapes species native to Europe. This is the foundation for the spectacular Chardonnay, Cabernet, Gamay, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Rieslings.
